Travel Tipstime to travel

Whether you're visiting family, honeymooning abroad, or heading out of town for a business trip -- we are committed to protecting your account from fraudulent activity.

Before you leave, let us know your travel plans.
Premium Checking account holders can take advantage of the travel services that come with the ID Theft Resolution Package. A fraud specialist will provide you with travel tips based on where you are traveling to, as well as provide you with toll-free country codes and phone numbers. These numbers can be used to get in touch with a fraud specialist directly -- in case something should go wrong (such as the loss or theft of passports, visas, licenses, birth certificates, Social Security cards, credit/debit cards or checks, etc). If any of these things happen to you, Identity Theft 911® will work to help assure your safe return. They’ll also work with credit bureaus and government agencies to clear up residual problems that could result following a loss of personal identification. If restoration services are needed, a fraud specialist will be there to help you with that, too.

Get peace of mind by double checking your account balances, due dates, credit limits, and card expiration dates.
We encourage members to log in to Online Banking before you take off in order to become familiar with its features. If you have Premium, ValuFirst, or Student Advantage checking accounts, you can pay your bills for free while you're away using Online Bill Pay. Additionally, members can sign up to receive text message alerts. Visit the Online Banking information page or contact us to learn more.

Have an alternate source of funds.
While away from home, it is a good idea to have a backup card and a small amound of cash (carried separately from the others). When traveling abroad, NEVER let your credit or debit card out of your sight when conducting transactions. Take great precautions to safeguard your cards when not in use.  It is also advised that you create a list of all your credit card and financial institution information (including account numbers and company contact information) and store it in a secure place (not in your wallet). Then, if ever you find your wallet/card is missing or stolen, you have the required information so you can immediately notify the companies.

Be aware of checkout and purchase-conversion fees.
To learn more about checkout fees and for a list of states where checkout fees are legal, visit CheckoutFees.com. Keep in mind, we have no control over purchase-conversion fees or additional charges for using foreign machines.
